Glenwood Neighbors Membership and Profile Updates

January, 2025

Membership Changes

The Glenwood Neighbors Board of Directors has made some changes to the way our website operates with respect to membership.

As membership revenue increases, we can continue our current programs and provide even more benefits, activities and events. As always, we appreciate and rely on the participation and ideas of our members.

The Update

In October, 2024

  • The paid membership options were modified to renew automatically.

  • The free membership option was discontinued for anyone applying as a new member. The dues-free option is no longer available for new members
  • If at anytime anyone needs to to participate as a free member due to hardship, please email the Board and we can allow that on our side. glenwoodneighbors94901@gmail.com

Rationale for changes:

  • The reminders to members to pay the annual membership dues are often overlooked. After a while, those memberships lapse and become inactive.

  • Due to the way our membership software works, we are charged for inactive members even if lapsed members have ceased getting email reminders to renew.
Of the 684 household addresses around 1/3 are represent dues-paying members. There is still a lot of room to add members. As the membership grows, we can sustain our current programs and provide more services with the added revenue.

  • When participating residents leave Glenwood, it’s very helpful when you let us know you are moving so we can update our records.

What you can expect going forward

  • Benefits of being a dues-paying member: Paying dues entitles the member to vote in Glenwood Neighbors elections. That vote gives the member a role in determining who is on the board of directors, as well as approving policy changes in the organization’s bylaws.

  • To current free members: No one’s membership will be dropped who joined as a non-dues-paying (free) member when that option was available. We will reach out to those members to encourage renewal as paid memberships.

    • Please consider updating your free membership to a paid membership, as your dues will enable us to provide valuable services. When you receive the notification to renew, the member level change can be made in your member profile, after logging in at: www.GlenwoodNeighbors.com

    • If paying the $50 annual dues is a hardship, please contact us and we can discuss an alternative - glenwoodneighbors94901@gmail.com

    • Thank you for your participation in Glenwood Neighbors. The contact information you provided when you joined gives you valuable communications and newsletters about disaster preparedness and neighborhood events. You are still on our email list and will continue to receive these updates.

What looks different now in your Glenwood Neighbors member profile?

  • When the annual paid membership is due for renewal, members will see the following prompt to review and confirm the start of automatic recurring payments for membership renewal:

  • The example shown is for a membership that was due to renew in November, 2024. Your date will vary according to when you joined initially.

  • Note: You can stop recurring payments at any time from your member profile. Some members choose to pay by check, which does not initiate automatic renewals, since no payment method is on file for the member.

Maintain Ready Glenwood household information in your Glenwood Neighbors member profile

Ready Glenwood is a Neighborhood Response Group (NRG), started in 2015. Our group follows the guidelines established by Ready Marin (https://readymarin.org) and collaborates with other nearby NRGs. Our volunteers work to organize meetings, collect and maintain shared information, reach out to new neighbors, and participate in emergency and disaster-preparedness training.

Your Glenwood Neighbors member profile has been revised to include additional household information (that you provide voluntarily). Some of the ways this information can be used:

  • Collect and organize resident names and contacts, both homeowners and renters, to ensure we know who needs to be accounted for.

  • Gather details about residents with disabilities or who may need extra assistance.

  • Identify people who have special skills or equipment and can assist others during a disaster or contribute to the volunteer effort.

  • more information about the Ready Glenwood program is detailed on our website: www.GlenwoodNeighbors.com

IMPORTANT CHANGE for Ready Glenwood households

  • The Ready Glenwood household information form has been added at the bottom of the Glenwood Neighbors member profile screen (screenshot below)

  • This section will look familiar to anyone who has previously submitted a Ready Glenwood household information form. Information on this form is provided by you voluntarily and used to help keep Glenwood residents safe during an emergency.

  • Members can now maintain their own household information in the on-line form, as well as the information for (bundle) members in the same household. Be sure to keep this information up to date to reflect changes in the household.

  • Information entered on this screen replaces the database of Ready Glenwood households. Ready Glenwood household information will no longer be updated by block captains going door-to-door in the neighborhood to distribute forms and collect them with updates.

  • This change streamlines the process to maintain information for participating households. If you have previously submitted household information to us on a Ready Glenwood form, please access the online form in your member profile and provide current information there. It can then be updated whenever the information changes.

  • We are retiring the process of distributing and collecting the old paper forms.

  • If you have previously given us information on the Ready Glenwood paper form but not yet signed up for Glenwood Neighbors, please consider joining. That way, we can continue to reach out with valuable information to assist you and your household during emergencies that affect the neighborhood. Another good reason to become a member of Glenwood Neighbors!
